Let the sunshine in! I spent the entire morning of this past Saturday photographing (or trying to photograph) various flowers I got as a gift during the past week. My mom has entered a care facility and I’ve spent the better part of the past month clearing our her home in prep for sale. Now we wait for the closing. This is the first time in well over a month my camera has seen the sun. It was pure joy! I was in heaven! I can’t wait for the next opportunity! I know you know exactly what I’m talking about!

I’m fascinated with this structure. I’m not Catholic, I’m Orthodox Christian (Russian), but I visit this place everytime I’m in NYC. When I took a really good look at this shot, I noticed the red intersperced in the leaf rossettes on the ceiling. And what are those disks with the ‘tassels’ hanging from the ceiling? Didn’t notice those until just now either. Fascinating.

Old and New…side by side

Shot in 2010 with my first ‘up-to-date’ digital SLR (Nikon D5000 - loved that camera). And I believe I prefer the old building. If I remember the correct location, this is across from The Plaza Hotel. I can only imagine what those walls and windows have seen over the years.
